A View From The Roof

NY Rooftop.  60" x 48".
Mixed media and oil on wood panel.

The last time I visited New York I stayed at the appartment of a friend who lives within a stone's throw of the Lincoln Center. I spent some time on the roof of her building one morning as the sun was coming up over Central Park. The shadows on the rooftops below me were long and distorted. This painting, recently completed, will be featured in a two-person show opening on May 3rd in, appropriately, New York.

  1. Love it. This reminds me of the train station painting with the chair - very rare it seems to have the Mackey eye not trained on the horizon - but in both those cases at least the view is great. Reflecting, I wonder if that's not just a general painting convention? Riffling through my memory, seems it might be? All that yellow though, what did I hear about yellow ;-) ? (I like it)
